Situation: Looking to protect their current Real Estate revenue streams and looking for new ways to generate new dollars and offer the premier Real Estate Web site within their communities, Belo Interactive chose mdReal Estate for their newspapers in Riverside, CA; and Providence, RI; as well as for five TV stations in major markets.
Approach:
In the beginning of 2003, Belo Interactive agreed to utilize Morris DigitalWorks'
mdReal Estate technology. HomeCenter was launched in six television and two newspaper
markets as part of its mdReal Estate license enterprise agreement. The Real Estate
sites are part of Belo's strategy to combine listings from every possible Real
Estate source and present an integrated geographically based view of houses available.
Outcome: Using mdReal Estate, Belo Interactive now has
local control of the look and feel of its Real Estate Web sites
- enabling the team to quickly adapt to evolving business models
in this critical classifieds vertical. Real Estate agents and
brokers have administrative access to their data in order to create, modify
or delete listings.
"Utilizing the flexibility of the Morris Real Estate platform, Belo Interactive is able to uniquely meet the needs of both realtors and home builders by creating tailored advertising packages. Additionally, Morris offers us the ability to customize the consumer experience when looking for a new home in our many local markets, which was very important to us," said T.J. Weyer, former Director of Online Classifieds for Belo Interactive.
According to Belo, in the beginning of 2004, Belo Web sites averaged more than 6 million unique visitors and 94 million page views, which makes them the premier local online source for continually updated news and unmatched insight in each of their respective markets.
Belo Interactive has launched mdReal Estate at The Providence (RI) Journal (www.projo.com); The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, CA (www.pe.com); KMOV Channel 4 in St. Louis, MO; KVUE in Austin, TX; KTVB Channel 7 in Boise, ID; KHOU Channel 11 in Houston, TX; KGW Channel 8 in Portland, OR; and KING5 in Seattle, WA, for areas in Washington State.
