The staff at Morris DigitalWorks would like to welcome new media directors Brent Call at The Morning Sun, Melissa Mangham at The Daily Ardmoreite and Lawrence Peck at the St. Augustine Record.
Brent Call comes to Morris from DepCo (Dependable Educational Products Company) Inc., a leading provider of technology education programs located in Pittsburg, Kan. Having started as in intern six years ago, he gained most of his online experience as head of the multimedia division.
Brent is very excited about the opportunity of working for The Morning Sun. "One great aspect of working in the online newspaper industry is the fact that you can never stop learning," he said. "I enjoy the rush of things going on constantly. It's a good and refreshing feeling."
Brent and his wife Andrea have four children (12, 10, 8, and 7 years) and have been part of the Pittsburg community for a long time.
Melissa Mangham has been named New Media Director for The Daily Armoreite, another newspaper owned by Morris Communications. She is replacing Shane Porter who left the Ardmoreite at the end of April. Prior to coming to the Armoreite, Melissa worked for United America Advertising where she handled all aspects of online media as the organization's webmaster.
With over seven years of online experience, Melissa is looking forward to working with Morris DigitalWorks. "One of my main goals is to see revenue streams and verticals that are possible blossoming," she said. "I want us to explore untapped opportunities and revenue streams."
Originally from Ft. Worth, Texas, Melissa has lived in Ardmore for the past 15 years. She has a degree in Journalism & Advertising from the University of Oklahoma. Melissa and her husband have a daughter who will graduate from High School this spring. One of her favorite hobbies is darts; you can find her competing in one of Ardmore dart leagues.
Lawrence Peck, former Internet Operations Manager of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, started his position as the New Media Director at the St. Augustine Record on May 17th. Lawrence has been with the Avalanche-Journal for the past five years. Prior to working for the Avalanche-Journal, he owned and operated a comic book store, called "Mutants and More" while getting a degree in Computer Science from Texas Tech University.
"I am very excited to join the Record staff. I think that the paper has a lot of opportunity, and I hope to help them find new and innovative ways of generating more revenue," Lawrence said.
Please take a moment to welcome and congratulate these new Morris leaders.
